Al hijo fuerte, del mayor planeta,
que al Cielo, y a los dioses fue columna,
Sierpes le acometieron en la cuna,
y las llamas le apuran en Oeta.

Y hasta llegar a la región quieta,
su madrastra le fue tan importuna,
que no pudo del techo vez alguna,
colgar la maza en ocio, o la saeta.

Pero viendo la misma que los dioses
le daban con aplauso eterno asiento,
depuso la venganza, y aprobólo.

Así yo espero un tiempo en que reposes,
que pues concurren tantos a un intento,
no podrá contestarlos uno solo.
