Sin duda que esta red de hierro dura
es la que a Marte y Venus fue molesta
cuando, en su lecho con engaño puesta,
sirvió de ignominiosa ligadura.

Allí en su gloria derramó amargura,
haciéndola a los dioses manifiesta,

en vano hace pasar la noche oscura.

Allá en oscuras cárceles contiende,
oh máquina cruel, con hombres fieros,
cuyos pechos te son tan semejantes;

O enciéndete en el fuego que me enciende,
y mudará tu forma los deseos
que amor inspira en estos dos amantes.
