Si de correr opuesto al claro oriente,
Ebro, te precias con tus ondas frías,
hazlas seguir a las querellas mías;
que atrás queda mi sol resplandeciente.

Con lágrimas aumento tu corriente,
y de quien es la causa las desvías;
cruel, ¿por qué tributo al mar envías
de lo que doy a Filis inclemente?

Pero con esto enseñas ser lo mismo
llegar al sordo mar que a su presencia,
y que no produjeran otro fruto;

pues no se echa de ver en el abismo
de su crueldad mi llanto y mi paciencia,
como en ese tampoco tu tributo.
