Cuelga, Ignacio, las armas por trofeo
de sí mismo en el templo, y con fe ardiente
espera que las suyas le presente,
quien le infunde tan bélico deseo;

que así, en dejando al pastorcillo hebreo
el real arnés, le dio una fiel corriente
limpias las piedras, con que hirió en la frente
altiva al formidable filisteo.

Salid, pues, nuevo rayo de la guerra,
a los peligros, que producen gloria;
oprimid fieras, tropellad gigantes;

que si al valor responde la victoria,
no dejaréis cervices repugnantes
ni en los últimos fines de la tierra.
