En esa candidez, ilesa y pura,
que lisonjera en néctar se desata,
cuando sencilla y fácil, de la plata
a los labios traslada su dulzura.
La más gallarda edad, estar segura
no piense, que tal vez la muerte ingrata,
en la leche se mezcla y arrebata
juntas, edad, salud, vida y ventura.
Por cuán estrecho paso recibimos,
y damos el aliento alternamente,
pues queda como un átomo impedido.
¡Oh, vida!, ¡frágil bien! ¿Por qué vivimos
dudosos por instante, si pendiente
estás de un pelo en el licor caído?
