Aunque Ovidio te dé más documentos
para reírte, Cloe, no te rías;
que de pez y de boj en tus encías
tiemblan tus huesos flojos y sangrientos;

y a pocos de esos soplos tan violentos,
que con la demasía risa envías,
las dejarás desiertas y vacías,
escupiendo sus últimos fragmentos.

Huye pues de teatros, y a congojas
de los lamentos trágicos te inclina,
entre huérfanas madres lastimadas.

Mas paréceme, Cloe, que te enojas;
mi celo es pío; si esto te amohína,
ríete hasta que escupas las quijadas.
