Si amada quieres ser, Licoris, ama;
que quien desobligando lo pretende,
o las leyes de amor jamás comprende,
o la naturaleza misma infama.

Afectuoso el olmo a la vid llama,
con ansias de que el néctar le encomiende,
y ella lo abraza y sus racimos tiende
en la favorecida ajena rama.

¿Querrás tú que a los senos naturales
se retiren avaros los favores,
que (imitando a su autor) son liberales?

No en sí detengan su virtud las flores,
no a tu benignidad los manantiales,
ni su influjo las luces superiores.
