¿En qué veré que tú a mi llanto ahora,
Padre benigno, aplicas los oídos,
si el corazón que forma estos gemidos,
sus dulces lazos tiernamente adora?

¡Oh, rómpelos, Señor; que ya no es hora
de contemporizar con los sentidos;
que puesto que a su daño están asidos,
parte hay en mí que sus errores llora:

Bien veo que él resiste al favor tuyo,
mas perdonar a la cerviz sujeta,
eso, Señor, es de ánimos humanos.

El sacarlo de error mal grado suyo,
es obra digna sólo de tus manos;
mas ¡oh amor propio, oh lástima imperfeta!
