¡Oh quién pudiera, superior Leonardo
(a vos en esto superior quisiera),
arrebatar a la suprema esfera
el vuelo de ese espíritu gallardo!

¡Quién la punta seráfica del dardo,
que a mi madre abrasó, dulce y severa,
entre el papel y vuestras manos viera
arder, lucir, y herir a un pecho tardo!

Esta divina pluma, que briosa,
en la media región flore al vuelo
con morales discursos provechosa,

penetre aquesos orbes, arda en celo,
llegue a la inmoble cumbre, y animosa
corra del sumo y hasta el sumo cielo.
