Si de Grecia sacaba el ostracismo
los buenos por insignemente buenos,
contigo, que tan pérfido a lo menos,
¿no hicieran sus repúblicas lo mismo?

La de Corinto echárate del istmo
(con ser viciosa) a límites ajenos.
y aun regalado en uno de los senos
más sordos y profundos del abismo.

Y andas entre nosotros con ofensa
de la virtud; mas no me desconsuelo
de que dilate un rayo la venganza.

Que cuando en los castigos tarda el cielo,
justamente irritado, su tardanza
después en el furor la recompensa.
