De la unión, Silvio, con que amor prospera
o endiosa nuestras almas, el conceto
que la esperanza forma es tan perfeto,
que la opresión del yugo le aligera.

Y así, quien ama y dice que no espera,
por ostentan más fe al amado objeto,
a su interior verdad pierde el respeto,
sin cuyo alivio ni alentar pudiera.

Bien que sí, generosa en la tardanza
(mientras que en gloria no se le convierte),
a finezas más nobles les convida.

Sufra y espere, mas con ley tan fuerte,
que aunque le falte esfuerzo, no le pida
jamás el sufrimiento a la esperanza.
