¿Con qué entrañas, de piedad desnudas,
niño impaciente del sosiego ajeno,
las flechas inficionas de veneno,
y cuerda infatigable al arco anudas,

si el blanco he sido de las más agudas,
y ando de sabias experiencias lleno,
desde que, herido en limpia edad, del seno
inexperto vertí lágrimas rudas?

Precia más que tus jaras descorteses
tantos ejemplos de mi fe, y no quieras
que la altivez de Cintia las derribe.

¿Así destruyes lo que amar debieras?
¿Qué agricultor las hoces apercibe,
resuelto de pegar fuego a sus mieses?
