Cuando me miras, Clori, de luz lleno
horizonte a tus ojos me figuro;
tu sol influye en el afecto oscuro
si influye en el espíritu sereno;

y cuando altos reflejos de entre el seno
a la luz eficaz volver procuro,
bien corresponde lo luciente y puro,
pero exhalas sus nieblas lo terreno.

No sol tu vista entonces, sino aurora,
su vapor imperfecto desvanece;
mas si tal vez se esfuerza a formar nube,

a pesar de sí misma resplandece;
porque en el punto que a tu esfera sube
tu noble resplandor lo inflama y dora.
