Rendida la cerviz al sacrificio,
en la ardiente parrilla recostados
están los duros huesos abrasados,
sin mostrar de flaqueza algún indicio.

«Tu amor, mi Dios, teniéndote propicio,
aunque el rigor del fuego era sobrado,
por Dios y por señor te he confesado,
poniendo en alabarte mi ejercicio.

»Como al oro en el fuego me probaste,
y aunque fue tan terrible aquel tormento,
lo deshice, en tu amparo confiado.

»Así mi corazón perfecto hallaste,
que, por tener en ti su dulce asiento,
no le es notado rastro de pecado».
