Débil cordera cuya blanca nieve
copo a copo formó naturaleza,
cándida ofrece al valle su pureza
si a tanto armiño su verdor se atreve.

Al cristal de un arroyo altivo mueve
lobo cruel su bárbara fiereza
y la simple cordera la cabeza
inclina al agua y descuidada bebe.

No bien hubo tocado los cristales
cuando el nocivo monstruo a la desierta
campaña dio de púrpura señales,

quedando la traición mal encubierta,
el agua salpicada de corales,
el lobo ausente y la cordera muerta.
