Nace el Sol de los astros presidente,
príncipe en las esferas conocido,
y aunque el día le mira el más lucido,
la noche se le atreve irreverente.

Sírvele de sepulcro transparente
el mar, pensión fatal de haber nacido;
pues el que en todo un cielo no ha cabido
le viene a ser el mar urna decente.

Sol fuiste, Conde ilustre, en la nobleza,
a quien la triste noche se le atreve,
que es el morir del Sol naturaleza;

hallaste como el Sol tumba de nieve:
pues siendo corto el Orbe a tu grandeza,
sólo a tal Sol la urna se le debe.
