Suspende, cantor Cisne, el dulce acento:
mira, por ti, al Señor que Delfos mira,
en zampoña trocar la dulce lira
y hacer a Admito pastoril contento.

Cuanto cabe suave, si violento,
piedras movió, rindió la infernal ira,
corrido de escucharte, se retira;
y al mismo Templo agravia tu instrumento.

Que aunque no llega a sus columnas cuanto
edificó la antigua Arquitectura,
cuando tu clara voz sus piedras toca,

nada se vio mayor sino tu canto;
y así como lo excede tu dulzura,
mientras más lo engrandece, más lo apoca.
