Ausente está de mí la mayor parte,
y la más principal del alma mía,
y ausente más virtud al cuerpo envía,
que le da la que del jamás se parte.

En dos objetos vivo de tal arte
(¡terrible división!), que noche y día,
allá los sentimientos de alegría,
y acá los de tristeza, amor reparte.

Amor, aunque tus lauros y tus palmas
en la parte inmortal más nobles sean,
también tendrán en la inmortal nobleza.

Haz unión de los cuerpos y las almas,
y no siempre por fe los hombres vean
el poder de tu diestra y mi firmeza.
