Quien voluntariamente se destierra,
y deja por el oro el patrio techo,
y aquel que apenas queda satisfecho
con cuanto trigo en África se encierra;

el que para usurpar la mar y tierra
le parece que tiene capaz pecho,
y enmudece las leyes y el derecho
con el estruendo y máquinas de guerra;

no tiene corto fin el pecho humano,
que como en ambición su gusto funda,
siempre está cosas nuevas deseando.

Dichoso quien camina por el llano,
sin pedir a la suerte otra segunda,
ni bien mayor que obedecer amando.
