A muerte inevitable amor me lleva,
por más que justifico mi deseo
y hace la empresa fácil; que bien veo
que es sólo por hacerle que se atreva.
Porque, ¿quién me asegura que no mueva
(si este fácil y justo bien poseo)
otro injusto difícil devaneo
y, al fin, de su poder la última prueba?
¿Sólo en mí torcerá de su costumbre?
O no pudiendo agora defenderme,
¿podré cuando de mí triunfe el tirano?
Ya temo su terrible servidumbre,
si algún desdén no viene a socorrerme;
fácil remedio si se da temprano.
