Di, Erine, aunque a Pitágoras leyendo
pienses quedar tan ajustada y fina,
que a tu celebro imite la oficina,
donde él redujo a música el estruendo.

¿Cinco años te abstendrás de hablar, mordiendo
la lengua, por seguir la disciplina,
que sus filosofantes examina
con aquel noviciado tan horrendo?

Bien será que al silencio te prevengas,
y por decoro de una ley tan grande,
enciendas por si acaso buenas lumbres,

mas ¿cómo tú has de hacer cuando te mande?
que (por ser tan golosa de legumbres)
de las que favorece más te abstengas?
