No hay dudar, Gallo, que esta edad maldita
aborrece los sabios de manera,
que al que en trono obispal poner debiera,
no le fía las llaves de una ermita.

Mas, pues que la repulsa lo acredita,
la injuria ten por gloria verdadera;
y así, no te lamentes; considera
que porque la mereces te la quita.

Que si el derecho que antes tuvo el sabio
ahora en barbas pródigas consiste,
y en no saber, tras esto, el alfabeto,

tiene razón de andar quejoso y triste;
porque ninguno como tú al respeto
ha recibido tan notorio agravio.
