Cuando los aires, Pármeno, divides
con el estoque negro, no te acuso
si por ángulo recto o por obtuso,
atento al arte, las distancias mides.

Mas di. el luciente en verdaderas lides,
por defensa o venganza puesto en uso,
¿herirá por las líneas en que puso
conformidad, y no pendencia, Euclides?

No esperes entre súbitos efetos
ira con atención, ni que prefiera
al valor un sofístico ejercicio;

porque, a la mente humana no se altera,
o nos quiso ver locos en juicio
quien redujo la cólera a precetos.
