Dime, Teodoro, así los sacros huesos
de Bártulo y de Baldo vuestros lares,
como Cástor y Pólux en los mares,
calmen la tempestad en los procesos;

¡por qué mostrando la verdad expresos,
próvida hasta en los casos singulares,
en las lites, o graves o vulgares,
de arbitrio humano penden los sucesos?

De las vulgares, Ticio, ni los nombres
llegan a calentarnos la noticia;
en las graves hay arte diligente.

Que exhala en los crisoles su justicia;
entre ambas sacan título aparente;
y así, en entre ambas son los hombres, hombres.
