Aquí, dónde, a pesar del tiempo, hoy dura
soberbio un gran conducto de Trajano,
linfas en ministerio de Vulcano
dan al doble metal noble escultura;

y el español su vellocino apura
mas que los seres al que muelle y cano
para la ostentación del traje humano
sobre los tiernos árboles madura.

Aspire, aspire a varoniles glorias
por severa templanza, y deje Iberia
los preciosos peligros en sus minas.

No quieras, oh fortuna, dar materia
a las armas remotas y vecinas,
y renovar sus bárbaras victorias.
