Pues no siempre tus rayos vengativos
sobre montes y alcázares fulminas,
y alguna vez destroncas las encinas
y abrasas los pacíficos olivos,
un pedante que, a gritos excesivos,
enseña a variar voces latinas,
júntalo a los estragos y ruinas
cuyas memorias guardan tus archivos.
El de pálido boj, labrado al torno,
vibra un cetro a mil madres formidable;
caiga el brazo inhumano con ejemplo;
que en el barrio que él hace inhabitable,
hoy te dedico, oh Júpiter, un templo,
y de inscripción piadosa te lo adorno.
