No tu vida, tu muerte solemniza
mi pluma, que en su afecto se disfraza,
pues la Vida tus glorias embaraza
y la Muerte tus prendas eterniza.

Vivo, sujeto estás a la ojeriza
de la Muerte que montes despedaza,
y muerto desvaneces su amenaza
pues no tiene dominio en tu ceniza.

Y así tu muerte estima pues de escala
te sirve para el Sol y ya su pena
a la gloria mayor del mundo iguala.

Que aunque su voz a nadie bien le suena
y ha tenido hasta aquí nombre de mala,
después que fue de Lope se hizo buena.
