Amor con esperanza de unos celos
es tiranía de precepto injusto,
que en los desaires bárbaros del gusto
aún no viven sin causa los recelos:

¿Cómo el amor verá con tantos velos,
investigando, necio, con disgusto
un deshonor en un afecto justo,
ganando abismos y perdiendo cielos?

Cuando los celos son forma de vida,
bien es que la materia sienta el daño
como parte que vive al alma unida:

Pero si el mal resulta de un engaño,
muera la pena, ciérrese la herida,
pues no hay cura mejor que un desengaño.
