Este de cuatro simples adornado,
tierra, llanto, vapor, incendio y fuego,
menos tiene de cuerdo que de ciego,
menos de ciego que de loco errado.

Es nube opuesta al Sol, flor en el prado
que apenas sale cuando muere luego;
no tiene hora o tiempo de sosiego
y presume de eterno su cuidado.

Vive sin vida y dúdase si vive;
no es inmortal y duda si es humano;
las días gasta y nunca los recibe.

Sabe que es vanidad y vive en vano;
él mismo esta verdad a sí se escribe,
y la verdad le deja de su mano.
